Marko Siilak's formative years were shaped on the idyllic island of Muhu, Estonia, where he immersed himself in the world of music. Joining the local school folk orchestra in 1987 marked the beginning of his musical journey, focusing his dedication on mastering the clarinet for an impressive seven years.
Beyond the clarinet, Marko showcased his versatile musical talents, demonstrating proficiency in piano and percussion. At the age of 15, he mixed songs recorded on the radio using the pause button and 48 keys synthesizer on his cassette player. He was first influenced by hip-hop music and culture.
In 1995, a significant chapter unfolded as Marko, alongside his brothers Kristjan and Robert Linna, founded the band Crazy El-Labio. Within the confines of their garage, the trio passionately composed and recorded some songs, later taking the stage with enthusiasm. Under the guidance of producer Antti Kammiste, two of their tracks were professionally recorded in a studio. One of their notable achievements was the radio sensation, a playful and catchy hit that secured a place among Radio 2's 20 most memorable songs from the '90s.
Marko's contributions to the music industry extend beyond his role as an instrumental performer. A prolific songwriter, he has crafted both tunes and lyrics for various compositions.
In 2009, Marko Siilak's musical journey took a significant leap as he pursued music production studies at the Royal College of Music. This experience not only refined his technical skills but also expanded his creative horizons, allowing him to explore new dimensions in music production.
